Privacy Policy

Future ("we", "us", "our") is a dating application for adults in India. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it (including how we use AI), who we share it with, and your choices. By using Future you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Here is exactly what Future collects, why, and who it is shared with:

We do not collect payment information — Future is free.

1a. About location

It is optional. If you decline the location permission, Future works normally and you are still matched — using the city on your profile. You are never excluded or ranked lower for saying no.
It is approximate, not precise. We ask Android only for coarse, city-level accuracy, and we round it further (to about 1 km) before storing it. We do not keep, and cannot show, your exact position.
We only use it in the background. Future never tracks you while the app is closed, and never records where you have been — we keep only your latest approximate position, overwritten each time.
Nobody sees your coordinates. Other users only ever see a rounded distance in kilometres.
You can turn it off at any time in your phone's settings, and you can erase what we hold from inside the app. Deleting your account erases it too.

2. How we use your information

To create your profile and suggest compatible, opposite-gender matches based on your interview and interests — and, if you allow location, to prefer people closer to you.
To enable chat, reactions, notifications, and AI-generated date ideas near your city.
To keep the community safe — moderating photos, detecting abuse, handling reports/blocks, and enforcing bans.
To operate, secure, and improve the app.

3. AI & automated processing

Future uses Google's Gemini AI to power several features. When you use them, the relevant content is sent to Google's Gemini API for processing:

Matchmaking interview — your interview answers are analysed to build your compatibility profile.
Compatibility & date ideas — your profile/interests and city are used to explain why you may match and to suggest food places and activities.
Photo moderation — every photo you upload is automatically scanned by AI to detect and block nudity and sexually explicit content before it can appear on your profile.

These AI features run automatically. Photo moderation is a safety measure; if a photo is flagged it is rejected and not shown.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers that run the app:

Google (Sign-In) — authenticates your account.
Google (Gemini AI) — processes interview answers, profile/city for match & date suggestions, and photos for moderation.
Cloudinary — stores and delivers your photos via its content-delivery network.
MongoDB Atlas — hosts our database.
Expo — delivers push notifications.
Resend — sends the 6-digit verification code to your email address if you sign up with email.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Your photos & what others see

Your photos and profile details (name, age, city, bio, etc.) are shown to people you are matched with. Please only share what you are comfortable with others seeing. Photos are stored on Cloudinary as web links, not inside your device.

6. Content moderation & safety

We use automated AI moderation to block explicit photos, plus user tools to report and block others. An account reported or blocked by enough distinct users, or that breaks our rules, may be permanently banned.

7. Data retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account any time from Profile → Delete account, which removes your profile, photos, matches, and messages from our systems.

8. Age requirement

Future is strictly for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), token-based authentication, rate limiting, and access controls to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to safeguard it.

10. Your rights

You can access and update your profile in the app, and delete your account at any time. For any privacy request, contact us at the email below.

11. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
