Privacy Policy

Future ("we", "us", "our") is a dating application for adults in India, published by Siddharth Nishad. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it (including how we use AI), who we share it with, and your rights. When you join, we ask for your consent to use your data as described here: you tick a box and tap "I agree" in the app. You can withdraw that consent at any time (see section 10).

1. Information we collect

Here is exactly what Future collects, why, and who it is shared with:

Future is free to use, and some extras are paid. We never see or store your card or payment details: payments are taken by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), and we receive only a record of what you bought.

1a. About location

It is optional. If you decline the location permission, Future works normally and you are still matched — using the city on your profile. You are never excluded or ranked lower for saying no.
It is approximate, not precise. We ask Android only for coarse, city-level accuracy, and we round it further (to about 1 km) before storing it. We do not keep, and cannot show, your exact position.
We only use it while you are using the app. Future never tracks you while the app is closed, and never records where you have been — we keep only your latest approximate position, overwritten each time.
Nobody sees your coordinates. Other users only ever see a rounded distance in kilometres.
You can turn it off at any time in your phone's settings, and you can erase what we hold from inside the app. Deleting your account erases it too.

2. How we use your information

To create your profile and suggest compatible, opposite-gender matches based on your interview and interests — and, if you allow location, to prefer people closer to you.
To enable chat, reactions, notifications, and AI-generated date ideas near your city.
If you set up Future Stars: to work out your daily reading, send your morning reading notification (you can turn it off in the Stars tab), and show how your chart fits a match's.
To keep the community safe — moderating photos, detecting abuse, handling reports/blocks, and enforcing bans.
To operate, secure, and improve the app.

3. AI & automated processing

Future uses Google's Gemini AI to power several features. When you use them, the relevant content is sent to Google's Gemini API for processing:

Matchmaking interview — your interview answers are analysed to build your compatibility profile.
Voice calls with Aria — when you call Aria, your voice is streamed to Google's Gemini so she can hear you and answer out loud, and what you both say is written down as your interview. We do not keep the recording.
Talking to Aria (the Aria tab) — when you talk to Aria there, your voice is streamed to Google's Gemini so she can answer out loud. We do not keep these conversations or their recordings. Aria is an AI, not a therapist or doctor.
Aria's memory (only if you turn it on) — Aria keeps a few short notes of what you told her in the Aria tab (never the conversation and never a recording), so she can pick up where you left off. To write them, the chat's words are sent to Google's Gemini (or Groq) once when the chat ends. The notes are used only by Aria in your chats with her - never shown to anyone and never used for matching. Turn it off or make her forget everything anytime in Profile; deleting your account deletes them.
"Hey Aria" — while the Aria tab is open, your phone listens for speech; each short bit of speech is sent to Groq only to check whether you are talking to Aria, and is not kept. It stops when you leave the tab.
Dates found by Aria — if you ask Aria to find you a date, we keep a short summary of what you are looking for (not the conversation) to find someone who also asked her, and show you both to each other on the Aria tab.
Compatibility & date ideas — your profile/interests and city are used to explain why you may match and to suggest food places and activities.
Introductions by Aria — when you ask Aria to introduce you to someone, both of your profiles are sent to Google Gemini so she can write the introduction. When someone asks Aria a question about a person who asked to meet them, she answers only from that person's profile (never their interview notes), and questions about private things like religion, caste, past relationships, money or phone numbers are never sent to the AI.
Go deeper (Future Stars) — when you open Go deeper, your signs and which planets touch yours that day are sent to Google Gemini to write the longer reading. Your birth date, time and place are never sent.
Photo moderation — every photo you upload is automatically scanned by AI to detect and block nudity and sexually explicit content before it can appear on your profile.
Photo verification — when you verify, open-source face-matching software running on our own server checks that your three selfies show a real person turning their head, and compares them with the faces in your profile photos. Nothing is sent to any other company. Accounts created from 5 October 2026 need to verify before they are matched (the rest of Future works without it); for older accounts it is optional.

These AI features run automatically. Photo moderation is a safety measure; if a photo is flagged it is rejected and not shown.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers that run the app:

Google (Sign-In) — authenticates your account.
Google (Gemini AI) — processes interview answers, your voice while you are on a call with Aria, profile/city for match & date suggestions, the introductions Aria writes, Go deeper readings, and photos for moderation.
Groq — runs parts of Aria's interview chat.
Cloudinary — stores and delivers your photos via its content-delivery network.
MongoDB Atlas — hosts our database.
Expo — delivers push notifications.
Resend — sends the 6-digit verification code to your email address if you sign up with email.
Apple and Google — take the payment when you buy something in the app, under their own terms.
RevenueCat — receives the record of what you bought from Apple or Google, linked to your Future user ID, and tells us, so we can unlock it.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Your photos & what others see

Your photos and profile details (name, age, city, bio, etc.) are shown to people you are matched with. Please only share what you are comfortable with others seeing. Photos are stored on Cloudinary or in our database (MongoDB Atlas).

6. Content moderation & safety

We use automated AI moderation to block explicit photos, plus user tools to report and block others. An account reported or blocked by enough distinct users, or that breaks our rules, may be permanently banned.

7. Data retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account any time from Profile → Delete account, which removes your profile, photos, matches, messages, and your consent record from our systems. See how account deletion works.

8. Age requirement

Future is strictly for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), token-based authentication, rate limiting, and access controls to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to safeguard it.

10. Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you, and know how it is used.
Correct or update it. Most details can be edited directly in the app.
Erase it, by deleting your account in the app or by emailing us.
Withdraw your consent at any time. Future cannot run your account without processing your data, so withdrawing consent means we delete your account. Delete it in the app, or email us.
Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you are unable to.

Email siddharth@heyfuture.site for any request. We respond within 90 days, and usually much sooner. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

11. Grievance Officer

If you have a complaint about content on Future, another user, your account, or how we handle your personal data, contact our Grievance Officer:

We acknowledge every complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days. A complaint about content showing nudity, a sexual act, or someone impersonating you is acted on within 24 hours.

12. Changes

If we make an important change to this policy, we will ask you to accept the new version in the app before you continue.
